Aftermarket sources for various Cummins H parts:
The following parts may or may not be
available from Cummins, but are available
from various aftermarket
sources at quite reasonable prices. These sources
usually do not have Cummins minimum order
quantities or 13% shipping
fees, either.
Please note! Cross
reference information here is taken from
various sources and has NOT
all been verified. Please use caution when
acquiring parts based on
this information; we cannot be responsible

Please note! The items below are a "Power Booster Kit", which
increases bore from 4 7/8" to 5 1/8".
They say "for
blocks bored like NH or NR series".
It is doubtful whether you
could safely mix the two bores.

Thermostats:
It appears the H series had several
different thermostat arrangements. I believe
there were two
variations of single-thermostat systems; the
thermostat diameters and the thermostat
housings are different. Then
there was a dual-thermostat system; one controlled
the bypass and one the radiator flow. [Why?]
Most seem to use
"Venatherm" type thermostats,
which are sort of a
sleeve-valve design. Water normally flows
straight through the
sleeve into the bypass passage. As the temperature
rises, the sleeve
moves and uncovers the passage to the radiator.
Some have a lip seal
which seals the outside of the sleeve, others
just have a
close-fitting brass bushing.
- Smaller diameter
single thermostat:
Vernatherm VD-111450 (150-170 degrees) or
VD-111451 (175-190° F) no longer offered
by Vernatherm.
Their
competitor Vernay sold off line to Caltherm,
which offers similar
CT2200, if you can find a distributor.
NAPA carries Weir-Stat
parts under numbers 358-170 (170-190°
F) and 358-180 (180-200°
F), listed for Waukesha engines, but ideal
for Cummins. Price is
about $30. They do not include a seal. Weir-Stat is now part
of Standard Thompson, which also owns Stant;
factory tech support is
pretty clueless. The 358-180 is giving me
180-185° F under light
load in cool weather with radiator shutters
closed, which is about
ideal per engine manual.
- Larger diameter single
thermostat: Check NAPA 613070 (170° F) or 613080
(180°
F), made by Weir-Stat. They include lip
seals. Price is about $25.
Misc:
- crankshaft rear oil seal,
non-labyrinth, Cummins 65504, FP Diesel
FP65504, Interstate-McBee
MC65504,
possibly Clevite 46773 (viton) and 48068
(teflon)
- front seal, Cummins ???, possibly Clevite
49727
- connecting rod bolt,
Cummins 9195-3, FP Diesel FP-9195-3, Interstate-McBee
MC9195-3
Fuel parts:
- inlet and drain body (for PT fuel system),
Cummins 44753, Interstate-McBee MC44753
(not
available as of 6/2001)
- fuel drain connector (for
PT fuel system), Cummins S-1003-1, new 3018888,
check NAPA brake
parts (standard inverted flare fitting)
- fuel inlet connection and
screen (for PT fuel system), Cummins 70855,
Interstate-McBee MC70855
(misnamed "drain" connection)
Filters:
- lube oil filter, bag type in oil pan: Cummins
S-1915-1, was WIX ABF, use NAPA 1900 or Wix
51900 conversion kit
- lube oil filter cover gasket (for filter
in oil pan): Cummins S-1914, NAPA 5083
- lube oil filter cartridge, bypass, cotton
sock: Cummins S-2470-A, WIX CW22, Baldwin
DF408, Hastings LF504, NAPA 1022 (possibly
obsolete, probably replaced by NAPA 1503
paper cartridge element with gaskets)
- fuel filter and gasket: Cummins BM-23097,
Wix CW62MP, NAPA 3062, Baldwin F902-C1 or
PF902
(consider upgrade to NAPA 3418 filter/water
separator on 4309 base)

Cummins model J engine lead:
keywords: Cummins J, JF-6-B, JF-6-BI, JF-6-I, JF-6-IP, JF-6-P, 401, 105 hp
As of late 2005, the following company has a used Cummins model JF-6-BI engine in a loader.
The serial number appears
to be 208640. They claim it ran not that long ago.
It does have a PT pump.

Cummins double disk injection pump lead:
keywords: Cummins double disk fuel injection pump
As of Aug 2008, the following company has THREE used Cummins double disk fuel pumps. They are looking for anyone
interested in buying them, or they might be willing to donate to a valid cause. They are a sawmill which has been in
operation over 50 years, so these gems were probably state of the art when they were acquired!
